Discovery Day VIII

"[What] I hope to get out of this experience is to show the younger students a glimpse of college life so they know what to expect." -Jeno, SSU student

The Communications & Media StudiesLearning Community class greeted 107 students from Roseland University Prep for Discovery Day held at Sonoma State University.

Group activities including a scavenger hunt created friendly bonds between RUP and SSU students. All of the students were later treated to presentations about social media safety, a student panel on life at SSU, and a pizza lunch graciously provided by University President AmiƱana.

Many Sonoma State students said they hoped to give RUP students a fun and realistic college experience and to encourage them to pursue higher education.

"I am excited to learn about this college," said Cruz, an RUP freshman.

RUP student, Moses, agrees:

Discovery Day is the first time many young students experience a college campus. Roseland students Jarely and Karen both commented on the beauty of the campus and how nice the people are.
