Simple Ways to Save Your Health, Money, and Planet: Tip 1
Be a Smart Consumer
Part 1 of a 10 Part Series
How you choose to spend your money is one of the most powerful decisions you make everyday. Much like a vote, every purchase shows your approval of that company's product, policies, and their social and environmental impacts. We as consumers influence what the market produces, so we must embrace this responsibility by buying consciously.
Remember that you have the power to demand that corporations respect you and respect your environment. Hold them accountable for their actions and pressure them to change their policies by refusing to buy their products. How you spend your money does make a difference.
Consuming is Politics:
Every time you buy something it's like you're voting.
Avoid Take-Out Boxes:
Try bringing a container from home. The restaurant saves money while you avoid the waste.
Buy in Bulk and Use Reusable Containers:
So much plastic is wasted in the packaging and individual wrapping of food products. Try choosing products with one layer of wrapping and using your own container to make the serving sizes you want.
You Have All the Power!
If you don't buy it, they won't sell it. Force companies to stop making profit-based decisions that are harmful to your health and environment.
