Last October, our community was hit hard when the devastating wildfires swept through Sonoma County. Although the news trucks and National Guard has left, our area is still in recovery mode, and will be for a very long time.

I was so fortunate to be in this year's production of Sonoma State's the Vagina Monologues.

Every year students, clubs, and other organizations have the opportunity to take part in JUMP's largest community service days of the year, Sonoma Serves!

Nikki Pyle, member of the Community Action Coalition of Sonoma County showed her insight on becoming part of the movement of keeping undocumented migrants safe from ICE through a legal observation training.

"Shadow Day was so much fun! We got to go to Bio and the class was just like a high school class," says one Roseland Collegiate Preparatory high school student after sitting in on a college Biology lecture. Hopefully this student is taking AP Biology!

When I was an SSU student, I was in a few courses that utilized a service-learning community experience. Service-learning is a pedagogy that various teachers at Sonoma State are using to connect their coursework to a hands-on experience with local community partners.

Although this wasn't my first time attending a Los Cien of Sonoma County event, I left feeling energized and ready to help create positive change in Sonoma County.
